Senior Thesis
This semester I am working with other students at the kcai. One of the students created a story in our japanese class and then this summer we decided to bring that story to life. So this year as my senior thesis, we are working on elaborating on that story and then animating it. So far we have finished the first shot.

Dance
Untitled from Stephen Henry on Vimeo.
In this directed study that I am taking, I am attempting to find my own voice and style in animation. I thought that maybe I could take some of my stories or poems and incorporating them into my animation style.

Seasons

I wanted to show what the seasons look like, in the hopes that those that don't always get a chance to pay attention to the changing seasons will notice it.

Acting

During my Intro into Maya class, we got an assignment called "Acting". We had to animate the rig getting hit by a ball, reacting to getting hit, looking at the ball, and then kicking it. I chose to have an old man getting hit by a ball and then try to kick it back.
First Semester Final
First Semester Final from Stephen Henry on Vimeo.
In this assignment we were let loose and could animate whatever we felt like. In the years before their final was to a self portrait, so I wanted to continue in that same vain. My main goal was to accomplish different kind of camera moves since I didn't really get a chance to experiment with that during the semester. The message at the end was something I felt needed to be put on there.
Dream
Dream from Stephen Henry on Vimeo.
This week the topic was dream. My original idea was to move from a nightmare into a good dream, this idea came from a theory that dreams are effected by external stimuli and the more stimuli the further into the dream you will go unless your survival is being threatened. Because of the time constraints, I could only get into the nightmare portion of the animation.
Energy

he name of the second semester animation class was called "Experimental Animation". So each week we were presented with a new topic, this particular week we had to show energy without any references to the human figure. I approached this assignment by looking up the definition of energy in order to come up with an idea. My intention was to show energy through "breaking" into different kinds of worlds, so I wanted to show an atom moving in its world and then becoming me in a lightpainted world.
Walk Cycles

In this assignment we had to animate a walk cycle. I really enjoyed myself in this assignment and decided to go and do several more walk cycles. I attempted to do different kinds of emotional walk cycles, I think I was fairly successful in depicting the emotions.
Fire, Water, and Smoke
Fire, Water, and Smoke from Stephen Henry on Vimeo.
This was the first assignment of my second semester in animation, the elements. We had to do animate fire, smoke, and water. Each of the animations had to be 6 seconds long. I chose to do hand drawn animation for fire and smoke, then I thought I would try animating on scratchboard for water.
Weight

In this assignment we were required to study the weight of three different objects: paper, rock, and a feather.
Metamorphosis

This is from my first semester in animation. We were required to make a 15 second animation and we weren't supposed to plan out anything in it. So I animated whatever doodles came to mind and made them transition into the next one.
